Spring Tilapia was recently featured on RAS Talk, a podcast from RASTECH Magazine covering recirculating aquaculture systems and land-based fish farming. In the episode, "Chasing the Perfect Tilapia Farm," commercial director Carlos Lopez walked host Jean Ko Din through the company's history, touching on what RASTECH described as "its focus on growth and disease resistance, and the importance of biosecurity."
Carlos also spoke about biosecurity, one of the pillars of the operation. He detailed how the facility relies on UV-treated water, restricted access, and ongoing health surveillance to protect fish health at every stage of production. Looking ahead, he shared his perspective on where U.S. tilapia aquaculture is headed, including room for the market to grow and the technology that could shape the next generation of production.
The conversation capped off a busy stretch for the team, who also kept things lively closer to home with the latest episode of the "Cooking With" series. This time, Deborah took over the stovetop for a Moqueca cook-along, the Brazilian fish stew rooted in coastal tradition, made here with fresh tilapia. It's part of an ongoing effort to show the many ways tilapia can show up on the table, not just in the tank.
One note for longtime followers: you may know this work under the Spring Genetics name. The company has since rebranded as Spring Tilapia, though the team, the farm, and the focus on quality remain the same.
